12V lithium — standard case

LiFePO4 for anywhere there is room for a conventional case: van lockers, motorhome bays, camper trailers. Near enough all the rated amp-hours are usable, it charges fast, and it weighs about half what the AGM equivalent does.

Shallow-case LiFePO4 for canopies, wall mounts, under-seat cavities and boat lockers — where a standard case simply will not go. This is the bulk of what we fit.

Higher-voltage LiFePO4 for large house banks, off-grid systems and 24V/36V trolling motors. Check the IP rating first if it is going anywhere near salt water.

Standard-case lead AGM for caravan, camper and off-grid house banks. Cheapest way to get amp-hours on board, heavier than lithium, and you should plan on using about half the rated capacity.

Under-bonnet dual purpose

Dual-purpose AGM built to crank and cycle, and to survive the heat and vibration of an engine bay. Rated in cranking amps rather than amp-hours, so there is no per-amp-hour figure to compare here.

Lithium or AGM?

Neither one is simply better — it depends where the battery is going. Here is the honest version.

⚠️ Under the bonnet, AGM wins — every time

Engine bays get far hotter than LiFePO4 will tolerate. Most lithium BMS units stop charging well before an engine bay peaks on a Townsville summer day, and sustained heat shortens cell life. For an under-bonnet auxiliary battery a dual-purpose AGM isn't the budget option — it's the correct one, and the expensive lithium is the wrong tool.

🧮 Halve the AGM before you compare it

AGM gives you about 50% of its rated amp-hours before you start shortening its life. Lithium gives you close to 100%. A 200Ah AGM and a 100Ah lithium therefore give you roughly the same usable power — which is why the gap between the two on this page is much smaller than the sticker prices suggest.

📏 Size it to your daily draw

Work out roughly what you pull in a day — fridge, lights, water pump, charging — then buy usable amp-hours to cover it with headroom. Tell us the rig and what's running off it and we'll do the sums with you rather than selling you the biggest one on the shelf.

🔌 The charger matters as much as the battery

Lithium needs a lithium charge profile — a DC-DC charger or lithium-capable mains charger. AGM is happy on standard charging. Fitting lithium behind the wrong charger is the most common mistake we see, and it will cost you the warranty as well as the battery.

12V lithium — standard case

Like for like, ATG is the cheaper battery at every size we stock.
