Victron's flagship DC-DC charger, engineered from the ground up to replace the older Orion-Tr Smart series with a smaller footprint, higher efficiency, and full native integration into a Victron GX system.
Up to 1400W, configurable across 12V and 24V
The Orion XS 1400 charges a 12V or 24V battery bank from a 12V or 24V starter battery, with an adjustable output current of 1-50A in 0.1A steps. Total wattage depends on your voltage combination: roughly 700W in a 12V-to-12V setup, up to a full 1400W in a 24V-to-24V configuration. If you're running a 12V system, Victron's smaller Orion XS 12/12-50A is usually the more efficient choice - the 1400 comes into its own on 24V systems or when planning a future upgrade.
Built for modern smart alternators
An integrated engine-running detection mechanism ensures the charger only draws power when the alternator is actually supplying it - critical with Euro 5/6 smart alternators that vary their output voltage and shut down when not needed, which can otherwise confuse older DC-DC chargers into drawing down your starter battery.
Full Victron communication suite
Unlike the Orion-Tr Smart, the XS adds VE.Smart Networking (wirelessly receiving voltage, temperature and current data from a SmartShunt or BMV) plus a wired VE.Direct port with DVCC support for full integration with a Cerbo GX or similar - giving you VRM remote monitoring and system-wide charge coordination.
