The smallest charger in Victron's Orion-Tr Smart isolated DC-DC range, sized for smaller dual battery systems where a compact, fully isolated charger is the priority over outright charge current.
Galvanic isolation, no shared chassis ground
As an isolated model, the 12/12-18A keeps the starter and service battery circuits electrically separate, with no shared chassis ground between input and output. This matters most in boats and vehicles where galvanic isolation reduces corrosion risk and electrical noise between circuits.
Built for modern smart alternators
An engine-running detection mechanism prevents the charger from drawing on the starter battery when the alternator isn't actually supplying power - essential with Euro 5/6 smart alternators that vary output voltage and cut out when not needed.
Bluetooth setup and monitoring
Built-in Bluetooth connects to the VictronConnect app for configuration and live monitoring - no separate dongle required. The adaptive 3-stage charge algorithm (bulk, absorption, float) is configurable for both lead-acid and lithium battery banks.
