SUNPOWER MAXEON 3 SOLAR PANEL. THE PANEL BOASTS SEVERAL FEATURES, INCLUDING:

  1. The SunPower Maxeon 3 Cells are the highest efficiency cells available on the market, with a minimum efficiency of 24.4%. This means that the panel is able to produce more power for its size compared to other panels.

  2. The Maxeon 3 Cells are highly shade and temperature tolerant, outperforming other panels in overcast, partial shade, or high temperature conditions.

  3. The panel is made with a premium Japanese ETFE laminate, which is UV resistant for 25+ years and water, dirt, and salt resistant.

These are only suitable for installation on flat surfaces. Simply wash the surface, wipe over with isopropyl alcohol (available from hardware stores), peel off the backing and stick down.

2 bypass diodes - should your panel end up in heavy shade (maybe if you leave camp for the day), the dual bypass diodes will ensure the cells continue to work to their optimum levels, with each side of the panel working independently. 

Solid copper backing and thick connectors - ensuring maximum power production as cells are not connected using thin, weak strips like most panels which can break or corrode and the front face of the panel is not covered with wire lines (which reduces the surface area exposed to the sun).

Important Installation Requirements
Flexible panels are designed to be flexible for the initial installation application, then stay fixed in that position. They are not suitable for continuous movement and flexing. They must stay fixed, have 100% of the surface area supported and properly connected to the mounting surface, and be wired/fused correctly. AllSpark 120w flexible solar panels run at 19.8V (Vmp). SunPower cells have a maximum system voltage of 45V and as such means 2 x 120w panels can be connected in series only, to keep within the 45v maximum system voltage.  3 in series is not permitted and will damage the panels.  2 in series and two sets for this connected in parallel is also suitable (total of 4 panels maximum).  A MAXIMUM of 3 x 120w panels can be connected in parallel in a single string.  More panels would required additional strings and separate MPPT solar controllers.

Each panel in the string must be protected by a MC4 10A solar fuse. These are available in our store here. If you have more than one panel in the string, you must also have a DC isolator on the cable running to the MPPT solar controller. For this model, a 20A circuit breaker is suitable for 1 or 2 panels, or increase to 25A for 3 panels.
